Tell Me “My Story”

Article submitted by Julie Merrin, Field Coordinator in SE Asia Rachel was sitting next to me recently…chattering away, as usual.  I’m not sure how, but somehow, the conversation turned  to her asking something about “her story”.  The story of how she came to be with me.  She has heard this story many times before, but [...]

Dr. Lew and Mariesa Davis

Serving in Peru

fc-davisDr. Lew Davis was born in Americus, Georgia and grew up in Florida.  Mariesa was born in the Winter Haven Hospital and graduated in Lakeland, Florida.  They answered the call into fulltime missions in 1984.  They attended Fountain Gate Bible College under Dr. Fuchsia Pickett.  Immediately after graduation, they left to work in the Marshall Islands in 1989.  The work in the Marshall Islands continues, but God sent the Davises to Bolivia for two years and now they are serving in the nation of Peru.  Mariesa has a BS in Nursing and Lew has a Doctorate in Theology and in Religious Education.

Our Affiliations:
They are field coordinators for Missionary Ventures International.  Each missionary must raise their own support but MVI does not deduct any administrative funds for this service.  MVI is a non-denominational organization which focuses mainly on organizing medical, evangelism, and construction teams to send into areas where they have field coordinators.  You can go to their web site for more information.  (www.mvi.org)

John 17:21  “That all of them may be one Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.  May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

Our Mission Goals:

  • Bring people to Jesus Christ through personal evangelism and outreach teams.
  • Mature saints in a Bible college by training leaders, pastors, & church members.
  • Break down denominational walls by emphasizing Christ as the head of the church.
  • Help with health care by conducting medical teams in remote areas where health care is not readily available, as well as in the city of Arequipa.
  • Provide programs for training children and youth.
  • Help established local ministries by hosting short-term mission teams.

Your part:

  • Join us:  We believe that Jesus is returning soon and now is the time to change the world.  You can help us change the heart of South

    Children at an orphanage

America.  You can make a radical difference, so we invite you to join us in the ministry work.  We will be receiving teams as well as individuals throughout the year.  We have the facilities to host teams as large as 20.  Those who are physically incapable of going on the mission field can help in other ways.  You can contact us personally to find out what opportunities are available (mvimi2@yahoo.com or mvibolivia@yahoo.com) or you can contact Missionary Ventures in Orlando, Florida.

  • Give:  If you are unable to become involved with us on a short term or long term basis, but you would really like to help, you still can.  If God has blessed you with financial resources, time, or abilities, we would be pleased with your offering in support of Missionary Ventures Peru.  Without financial support, we are limited in the number of activities and lives we can impact for the Lord.  You can donate to us through your church or send support directly.  Make checks to Missionary Ventures and mark them “for Lew & Mariesa Davis and we will receive 100%.
  • Pray:  We firmly believe in the power of prayer.  We believe there have been times that prayer has literally made the difference in life and death while we were on the mission field.  We need strong prayer warriors now more than ever.  We need a team of intercessors that will focus on this ministry and this nation in prayer.  If you would like to participate in this way, please contact us or MVI.
  • Promote:  Another effective way to become involved with Missionary Ventures Peru is to share with others what we are doing.  Please tell your fellow church members and other churches what we are doing.  Encourage others to become involved with us in changing lives in Peru.  We would be happy to send information to any of your friends if you send us their contact information.
