Jim and Sue Brannan

Serving in Peru

mv-blogs-brannanNine years ago we came to Peru with just 4 seabags and an extra heavy carry-on each.  Originally we are from the Pacific NW in the USA.  We raised 2 sons while in Oregon and have raised a daughter here in Peru.  After living in Arequipa (SW Peru) for 5 1/2 years and completing several projects, we are now living in Puerto Maldonado (SE Peru) in the Amazonian jungle.

Ministry Focus/Current Projects: There aren’t many missionaries in Puerto Maldonado and the need is great.  We are sharing the gospel upriver in natice communities and in surrounding towns where the miners and loggers live.  We host a multi-church prayer/fast twice monthly and help in a kids’ club behind the prison each Saturday.  Twice monthly we travel to an upriver community to provide a Christian movie and share Christ.  Every 6 weeks Jim travels upriver to encourage pastors living both outside and inside the Manu Reserve.  We hope to receive invitations to enter the “forbidden zone” of the National Manu Reserve which is not open to the public or even to the Peruvians without a personal invitation.  We host short term mission teams from MVI in our home and work with local pastors in encouraging various indigenous people groups to have a personal relationship with Christ.
