Marilyn Loftsgard, MVI Field Coordinator in Nicaragua Shares Her Testimony

mv300 Partner Letter December 2010

December 2010

Dear Friend of Missionary Ventures/MV 300 Partner,

It’s Christmas, and Linda and I have already received a very special gift. Our daughter, Adalynn Faith, was born in September. We’d been praying for more than ten years for a child and went through three miscarriages.  I admit there were times we doubted God’s timing in bringing us this little girl. We lived with anxiety, pain, doubt, fears, and uncertainties as the years ticked by.

We would go to the Word of God and see Him in control, even in the darkest times. Then we would experience God’s healing and comfort. This is what Christmas is—healing and comfort.

There was another child. In Nicaragua, at our Re-nutrition center, I held this little guy who was about five-years-old and weighed less than twenty-four pounds.  When I lifted him out of his crib, he was so weak his head plunked down on my shoulder.  My heart broke as I tried to coax a smile out of his sad little face.  There was no response.  “Jesus, please take care of this child,” I sincerely prayed. “Let him live and serve you.”

During that prayer, he looked into my eyes, and we connected.  Eye to eye, heart to heart.  To this day, that moment is very special.  Did he smile?  No.  Still, I knew, he knew someone cared.  This is what Christmas is—hope for the hopeless.

Of course, the Christ child, born in a manger, is the Christmas story. He is the answer to all the needs of everyone, everywhere.  He IS the miracle of the season.

Because you faithfully stand with MVI with your giving, time, prayers, and yourself, we can share the miracle and the greatest of all gifts. This is what Christmas is—Jesus loves you and me and that little guy in Nicaragua.

May the Lord richly bless you this Christmas season with His healing, comfort, hope, and great love,

Glen P. Dubois

President, MVI
