Renutrition Center in Nicaragua

mv300 Partner Letter June 2011

Dear MV 300 and MVI Friends,

In April, I was in Nicaragua and visited the Re-nutrition center in the mountains of Matagalpa.  When I met with Brenda, I could see she was exhausted from the past several nights of caring for a very sick little girl.  Even through the exhaustion, she had tears of joy as she told me the child was out of danger and was going to recover from severe malnutrition.

Every time I visit the center, I cry. God is so faithful to the least of these, and He uses Brenda in a special way to oversee this precious ministry where hundreds of children have been rescued from certain death and given hope in a safe haven.

Now, fast forward to last night about 8:00 p.m. when I received a call from our directors of Pastoral Care (Joe and Jill Keenum). They’d been talking to Brenda’s coworkers and learned that Brenda had been very sick for nearly a week going in and out of consciousness. Immediately, we put out a prayer request to our prayer supporters around the world.  We prayed, trusted, prayed, and surrendered Brenda to Jesus.

The plan was to get an IV in Brenda. The doctor and nurse came to the house but couldn’t get the IV in.  We got another call and agreed Brenda needed to go the hospital.  Brenda, being a nurse, wasn’t thrilled with that plan.  Why is it medical people are afraid of hospitals?  However, there wasn’t an available ambulance. Finally, around midnight, Myra and Brenda’s extended Nicaraguan family persuaded Brenda into her vehicle and drove her to the hospital about three hours away. We prayed and trusted and prayed and surrendered Brenda to Jesus again.  At 2:00 a.m., our time, we received the call.  Brenda had been given two IVs and was on her way to recovery.

Again and again, I’m overwhelmed by the faithfulness of God for our missionaries on the field. They are my heroes. What God is doing through this ministry is amazing.  Just this year, we’ve been able to help more than 60,000 children with food, education and health care.  We’ve helped with 80 Bible schools and seen more than 300 churches planted out of those Bible schools.

We thank God for each one of you who has prayed and made it possible for this ministry to continue to “Impact Nations for Christ.”

You are loved and appreciated.  If you have any prayer requests, please send them to us at info@mvi.org.  It would be an honor to pray for you.

Your servant in Christ,

Glen P. Dubois
