Argentina: Fall 2010

argentina-lakeThe Valle del Lago (Valley of the Lake) is located some three hours west of Cordoba and is situated on the banks of a lake called Dique la Vinya.  The property is actually about a kilometer walk to the lake.  It was founded in 1979 by pastor/missionary Philip Saint (brother of Nate Saint from “End of the Spear”). It is now being managed by our close friend and pastor Juan Carlos Diaz, from Cordoba.

argentina-buildingThe vision is to take an existing building and to build a second floor dormitory to house up to 20 people with sleeping, study and bathroom facilities.  The downstairs will have a carpentry shop and blacksmith/welding shop.  This will become a drug-rehabilitation facility to help restore broken people both physically and spiritually back to productive lives in society.  The need for this in Argentina is great says pastor Diaz.

The project needs three teams to be completed.  We already have one team coming from Scranton, PA in October.  We need two more teams for the month of November 2010.  We could do a team in early December after Thanksgiving if needed.  Each team needs to raise $6,000 for building materials.  Men and women are welcome and even families are encouraged to come.  Teams will be housed in simple apartments at the Valle del Lago and it would be nice to have women on the team to prepare meals.  Living at the center will lower the cost so that, depending on the cost of airfare to Argentina, each team member will need to raise about $1,500.00.
