Cebu Feeding Program in the Philippines

Article submitted by MVAustralia Office

For the past two years, MVI Field Coordinators Pastor Rolly and wife Nimfa have been supporting and partnering with Liberty Church in Doncaster, Australia, to run a weekly feeding ministry for poor families in Cebu, Philippines.

Each year Liberty Church affirms their relationship with the people of Cebu by sending a short-term team to work with Pastor Rolly as he ministers to the poorest of the poor. Through this relationship, Liberty Church also provides teaching and support services to assist other churches in Cebu to become all that Christ as called them to be.

Concerning the feeding program, Pastor Rolly writes, “As we work with the poorest of the poor not only are the children being fed, but also those parents who have volunteered to assist in this ministry. We consider this weekly children’s feeding ministry as one of the best strategies for evangelism as it reaches out to the whole community for Christ. In this connection, we would like to express our deepest thanks and gratitude to you and all our supporters in prayer.”

How Can Your Church Become Involved

Through our involvement with nationals in Asia and the Pacific Region, MVAustralia comes across many communities in need very similar to the Cebu community Pastor Rolly is working with.

These communities are not only seeking simple, practical assistance that will make a difference in their lives and in the lives of their children, but they are also in need of affirming relationships within the body of Christ that reflect the heart of Christ.

Short-term teams that promote such relationships through strategic partnership with indigenous communities can make a difference. If you feel your church is looking to become missional in focus, please call us and let us suggest how you can connect with a community in need through short-term mission team involvement.
