FROM CAPTIVE TO CONQUEROR by Julie Merrin
Many things can hold us captive. Addictions. Compulsions. Self-hatred. Dark fantasies. Bitterness. The list goes on. Often, we try to escape these captors in our own strength, but with little or no success.
In 2 Samuel 22, we see a vivid picture of one who is held captive by something far too strong to escape. This powerful passage also shows how God moves on behalf of that captive who finally cries out for help. God acts. He frees, restores, trains, and equips that captive to be a conqueror.
Julie Merrin grew up in Findlay, Ohio as the oldest of six children. Her parents gave her a strong church background. She is a graduate of Malone College in Canton, Ohio, and has begun work on a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling at Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. She lived for several years in Northern Virginia, and taught MK’s for a year in Papua New Guinea where she became committed to serving overseas. Julie has been living and serving in Southeast Asia since 1993. She currently ministers to children and teens at a children’s home. In 2005, she adopted a precious little girl and thoroughly enjoys the role of mother.
