The new Puerto Maldonado Library Project we opened this week will be a help to students ages 5 and up, plus interested adults, teachers and church leaders. It will offer an alternative to the small, small list of things people can do for fun here in Puerto Maldonado. This month’s theme is labyrinths and mazes. The Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11. This will be our hook to open up a conversation with any age on how the Lord has a plan for their lives and how His plan is better than what the world offers.
We brought back from the States about a rubix ball and 9 Perplexus maze balls—4 different kinds. In just showing them around town, we’ve gotten a big response. We also have them tied to the table with wire.
Here in Peru, in the jungle, the books will not be loaned out of the building, but this should not be too much of a problem as the library has tables and chairs for studying and reading. Students here already do much of their studying/research at the internet cafes—which have not proven to be very effective methods for obtaining and retaining information.
