Long-Term Plans for Haiti

It’s totally obvious to me that our ministry to Haiti is all God. You have no idea, in the midst of such suffering and devastation, how the demonstration of your love, prayers, and finances towards Haiti and its people has encouraged us. Please accept a big THANK YOU.

I don’t send out letters like this unless we are really in need. Our missionaries, on the ground, tell me this is probably either the end or the beginning of Haiti. Eighty percent of the buildings are destroyed. However, I believe with love and compassion, we can start the rebuilding of Haiti’s people into the Kingdom of God.

MVI is being very careful not to create dependency. To insure this doesn’t happen, we have developed long-term plans to partner with our Haitian pastors and leaders to rebuild their communities.

At this time, we have sent in teams, containers filled with food, tents, tarps, and medical supplies. We have met, and are still meeting, the immediate needs of the communities where we minister.

Our work has just begun. Our first three-year plan is as follows:

  1. Build 36 houses through the indigenous churches ($3,500 each). Church councils will decide who gets the homes, and those who receive a home will help with other homes.
  2. Develop by teaching and training 20 builders and block layers from the local churches ($75 a month). They will assist with the homes, schools, and churches.
  3. Rebuild three schools we partner with that have been destroyed ($45,000 each).
  4. Rebuild five churches we partner with that have been destroyed ($12,000 each).
  5. Purchase a bus for short-term mission teams ($20,000).

Will you help? I realize we are attempting something so great that if God is not in it, we are doomed for failure. Please pray and ask the Lord if this is one plea you could respond to.

We are trusting God for these important outreaches in Haiti. Thank you for being generous to God and helping His children.

Glen Dubois

President, MVI

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with you because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:3-6
