I get the awesome opportunity of working with a Nicaraguan-led program called Nueva Imagen which walks alongside women as they transition out of prostitution and into a life with Christ. For the first two years that the women are in the program, they are given skills classes with a small stipend to help them get on their feet. Elia, Maria Luisa, and Vanessa are all new to Nueva Imagen and are in my crafts class. We have been making and selling fabric banners for the last two months; I am praising God that it has been a financial success, but more so, it has been a provider of dignity, purpose, and abundant life. A few weeks ago, while working away on their sewing machines, Elia asked Vanessa if she was tired after working on the banners the day before. Vanessa responded, “I went home really tired, but it felt good…like a full day’s work and a lot was accomplished.” Then Elia said, “It was good. I don’t think I’ve ever worked a full day that I was proud of.” Praise be to our Lord for showing these women how much He values them and how much purpose they have in Him!
