Packing
The golden rule for packing is When in doubt leave it out! Carry only what you absolutely must. Youand others with youwill be glad you did.
Clothing Not To Bring
It is important that we dress modestly to remain culturally sensitive and be a good witness. We will be guests in a foreign country!! Attention to this detail will avoid a negative reflection on the Lord. The Church people in various countries have differing views concerning dress and makeup. We should dress nicely, but modestly in clothes, jewelry and makeup. DO NOT BRING the following:
Ladies:
- Mini skirts: if questionable, dont bring it (To clarify skirt length, all skirts should be below the knee.)
- Midriffs or short shirts
- Shirts or dresses without sleeves
- Off-the-shoulder shirts
- Tight cropped pants or knit pants
Men:
- Clothing that advertises heavy Christian rock bands
- Bicycle pants or cutoffs
- Fish net or cutoff shirts
- Tank tops or T-shirts that are cut deeply down the sides
Both:
- Military or military-looking clothing of any kind
- Use your best judgement while packing. Remember Who were going there to represent!!
Important Notes
You will be allowed only one suitcase and one carry-on bag. (The airlines allow two checked bags per person, but one will be used for supplies, materials, etc. for the team.) We do not want King Kong suitcases or huge camping backpacks. Please lock your luggage and put your name, address and phone number on the outside and inside. Do not pack your passport!! You know your own personal needs. Pack and plan accordingly. If you know of some things we have missed in the lists below, you may pack them. Just remember: You have to be able to carry what you bring. Also important to keep in mind is the type and amount of things you pack. The clothes you bring with you should be durable, conservative and something you would not weep over if lost, damaged or stolen. Usually you will not be able to wash clothes.
Necessary Items to Bring
